What is Education Inequity by Design?
Education inequity by design is the education theory of Dr. Carolyn Edwards. Her belief is that a dual U.S. education system still exists that promotes the advancement of white students while suppressing the advancement of Black students. This historical systemic racism is perpetuated by the influence of white supremacy on the economic, political, and legislative tenets of education. Dr. Edwards' research is based on these historical influences. The U.S is waking up to systemic racism but it has not yet made the connection of white supremacy to education. Dr. Edwards hopes to bring this knowledge to the public discussion to challenge the status quo.
